The Liberia Taekwondo Federation (LTF) has indefinitely suspended nine Taekwondo clubs, citing persistent absenteeism from official activities and acts of disrespect towards federation officials.
According to a release from the LTF, the suspension — which takes immediate effect— was based on recommendations from the federation’s Grievances and Ethics Committee following a review of the clubs’ conduct.
The affected clubs include Grace Taekwondo Club, Ba-Fon Cobra, PF Taekwondo, Ba-Fon Cobra-Institute, Dragon B Lee-3, Dragon Lee 2 Taekwondo Institute, Ba-Fon Cobra-1, Dragon Lee 2, and Ba-Fon Cobra Taekwondo Institute.
These clubs, according to the federation, failed to participate in official programs over a prolonged period despite receiving multiple invitations and reminders.
The LTF stated that no verbal or written explanations were provided for their absences. In addition to non-compliance with federation activities, the clubs were also accused of engaging in disrespectful conduct, including the use of offensive language directed at federation officials in various online chatrooms.
“These actions undermine the authority and leadership of the Executive Committee,” the federation said in its statement.
The LTF confirmed that all nine clubs have been barred from participating in any Taekwondo-related activities within Liberia until further notice or unless otherwise directed by the federation’s leadership. Official suspension letters have been issued to each of the clubs.
While the federation has not specified any conditions for reinstatement or outlined an appeals process, it emphasized that the move is intended to reinforce discipline and accountability within Liberia’s Taekwondo community.
Efforts to contact representatives of the suspended clubs for comment were unsuccessful as of Tuesday evening. The federation also did not disclose how the suspensions might affect upcoming national Taekwondo events or competitions.
