Africa-Press – Liberia. Newly inducted Margibi County Superintendent OJay Morris
Newly inducted Margibi County Superintendent OJay Morris has reaffirmed his dedication to advancing national development through President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Strategy, which emphasizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism.
Speaking at his induction ceremony over the weekend at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium, Supt. Morris outlined plans to tailor these pillars to meet the unique needs of Margibi County, fostering sustainable local growth.
Supt. Morris promised to boost agricultural productivity by supporting community farming initiatives, providing tools and training and encouraging partnerships with private investors.
These initiatives, he said, aim to improve food security and generate employment opportunities within Margibi.
Supt. Morris was recently appointed by President Boakai and confirmed by the Liberian Senate, succeeding former Superintendent Victoria Worlobah Duncan, who was reassigned as Resident Circuit Court Judge of Margibi’s 13th Judicial Circuit Court.
Morris pledged to collaborate with the central government to improve road networks, ensuring better access to markets, schools and healthcare facilities.
Speaking further, he committed to upholding justice and transparency while fighting corruption to promote stability and peace across the county.
He also emphasized the significance of education, promising inclusive access for all children—especially girls—and promoting vocational training opportunities.
Addressing public health, Supt. Morris vowed to enhance sanitation and waste management to create cleaner, safer communities.
Additionally, he expressed optimism about developing tourism as a means to create jobs and foster national pride.
Supt. Morris, however, paid tribute to his predecessor, acknowledging outgoing Superintendent Victoria Worlobah Duncan’s contributions to road development and peacekeeping efforts in Margibi.
He called for reconciliation and unity among residents, urging everyone to work together toward a shared future.
At the same time, the Margibi Supt. highlighted the vital roles of youth and women in development, stating, “Our youth are not just leaders of tomorrow—they are leaders of today. We will create opportunities for their voices to be heard and their talents to flourish. Women are the backbone of our families and economy; we will empower you through education, access to finance, and leadership programs.”
He expressed confidence that through faith, reconciliation, and unity, Margibi County will become a beacon of hope and progress for Liberia.
The induction ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Minister of Internal Affairs, Francis Saklia Nyumalin, members of the Margibi County Legislative Caucus, local and international partners, traditional chiefs, elders, and representatives from women, youth and religious groups.
