Africa-Press – Malawi. First Capital Bank (FCB) is set to commemorate its 30-year anniversary with a match between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers on June 29 at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe.
Twikale ChirwaSpeaking during a press conference in Blantyre on Wednesday, FCB Head of Marketing and Communications, Twikale Chirwa, stated that the idea of engaging Silver Strikers in the match came about because they are TNM Super League defending champions.
“We believe Silver will give us a thrilling contest against Bullets. To add more colour and pomp to the great occasion, we have arranged special replica jerseys and other exciting giveaways to ensure that the match is both memorable and entertaining,” Chirwa said.
Chirwa added that proceeds from the match will go towards supporting youth football.
“FCB currently sponsors the under-20 league here in Malawi and funds generated from this game will go to Football Association of Malawi’s [Fam] Luwinga Technical Center in Mzuzu, driving our mission to develop football talent from the grassroots to elite level,” Chirwa said.
Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga said they feel honored to be part of FCB’s anniversary celebration.
“We are very thankful to FCB for bringing us on board. It would not have felt right if we were to be excluded from this great milestone. We therefore welcome the idea of the anniversary match against Silver. We collaborated closely with the Fam and Super League of Malawi who granted us a special exemption from competitive fixtures in the week leading to the celebration so that we prepare well for Silver,” Chigoga said.
FCB started sponsoring Bullets in 2022, the year in which they won a quadruple.
Bullets and Silver last met during the launch of this year’s Super League at BNS, with the People’s Team winning 1-0.
