Of embattled Information Minister Gospel Kazako’s never ending poetry on Tonse Alliance government mediocrity

Africa-Press – Malawi. I always wonder about this minister of information who is also government spokesman called Gospel Kazako what he thinks and how he thinks whenever he speaks to the nation on behalf of government. Obviously, he is just too much of unrealistic answers and statements on radio and television.

He is always showing Malawians in many cases that he is good at twisting answers to all the interviews granted to him. Of late, I have discovered that the minister wants to go on and on explaining government’s position on many difficult questions. One such good example of the difficult question for Gospel has been that of the arrest of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) director general Martha Chizuma.

The minister stammered quite a lot and went off target when he was asked to answer a straight forward question: “Who is in control?”. Kazako chose to go personal during the program with the host Brian Banda on Times Radio.

He was giving an example instead of answering the question but that was an indirect attack on Brian Banda. Answering the question, Kazako says that government is in control. The minister argues that Tonse government is not a criminal government like previous governments.

Tonse believes in police being independent without the executive branch of government interfering into their internal affairs and administration of their work but was quick to point out that the Martha Chizuma arrest will be investigated.

My perception is that, since the minister Gospel Kazako and Brian Banda are both journalists by profession, they would like to outshine each other whenever they face each other in a program. I would like to say, the minister in particular always has the intention of trying to outshine Brian Banda instead of just providing answers from government during such interviews because that’s his main job. He should focus on telling Malawians the truth nothing else but the truth always, that’s why ministers take oath.

Minister Gospel Kazako, as a journalist especially with Zodiak, was well known for interesting and challenging questions to leaders in government. Therefore, the minister of information should be the last man to show all the impatience during radio and television interviews today.

I wish to encourage Brian Banda to continue asking thought provoking questions to the minister whenever he is hosting a radio interview and give it the seriousness it deservers. No kids gloves should be given at all but all leaders must be taken in government or opposition should be taken to task with all the hard talk possible.

Minister Gospel Kazako must realize that journalists must be allowed to ask questions even on behalf of the listeners. He should provide honest and correct answers without any emotions.

In conclusion, I would like to ask readers to make their own final decision whether Brian Banda and minister Gospel Kazako fit well whenever they are both in a program where Brian is the host and Kazako the guest.

My second question is for people to make their own conclusions whether Brian asks good questions to the minister Gospel Kazako. Finally, does the minister Gospel Kazako answer questions according to your expectations?
