Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with Mauritius Telecom (MT) through the MT Foundation, has launched the Sleigh of Kindness initiative, a Christmas outreach programme aimed at bringing joy to children admitted to the country’s main hospitals. As part of the initiative, toys donated by MT employees will be distributed to young patients across Mauritius.
The official launching ceremony was held yesterday at Dr A.G. Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis, in the presence of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Anil Bachoo; the Chairman of the MT Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of Mauritius Telecom, Mr Veemal Gungadin; and other personalities.
Following the programme’s kick-off, toys will be distributed across other major hospitals in Mauritius. On 10 December, distribution will take place at Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital and Sir Anerood Jugnauth Hospital in Flacq, and on 11 December at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam National Hospital in Pamplemousses, Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle and Victoria Hospital in Candos.
The initiative aims to provide comfort and festive cheer to hospitalised children during the Christmas season, while reinforcing the ongoing partnership between the Ministry of Health and Wellness and MT in supporting community well-being.
More than 2,000 toys have been collected through the mobilisation of MT staff for the Sleigh of Kindness initiative.
