Africa-Press – Mauritius. A new state-of-the-art Dental Clinic was inaugurated yesterday at the Le Florence Nightingale Medical Complex in Beau Bassin Prison. The initiative, a joint effort by the Mauritius Prison Service (MPS) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness, is designed to improve inmates’ quality of life, reduce medical emergencies, and ensure equitable access to healthcare.
The launching ceremony was graced by the Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Anil Kumar Bachoo; the Junior Minister, Mrs Anishta Babooram; the Commissioner of Prisons, Mr Premnathsing Jokhoo; and other personalities.
The modern facility is designed to provide comprehensive oral and dental care to inmates, including preventive and curative treatments. It is equipped with a cutting-edge dental chair, X-ray services, a sterilisation area, and other essential instruments to ensure high-quality care.
