Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Mitsui O. S. K Lines (MOL) Charitable Trust is providing Rs 1 million as sponsorship for Handball Games and Sailing in the context of the CJSOI (Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien) Games scheduled from 04 to 11 December 2022 in Mauritius.
To that end, agreements were exchanged, today in Port Louis, in the presence of the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint.
The agreements were thus exchanged between the Chairperson of the MOL Charitable Trust, Mr Goro Yamashita, and the Local Organising Committee Manager of the Mauritius Multisports Infrastructure Ltd, Mr Hedjaz Auckburally.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Toussaint expressed gratitude to the MOL Charitable Trust and other sponsors for their contributions with regard to the holding of the Games in the country.
The collaboration of each and everyone, he said, is key so as to offer a memorable experience for the youth. As for Mr Yamashita, he pointed out that it is an honour to provide the sponsorship to the Ministry for the CJSOI 2022.
He gave his best wishes to all the young athletes who will be participating in the Games. Mauritius will be hosting the CJSOI Games for the third time, following past editions organised in 1995 and 2006.
Participating countries to the Games are: Comoros, Djibouti, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Réunion Island and the Seychelles. The main objective of the Games, organised every two years, is to enable youth aged between 14 and 17 years from neighbouring countries to participate in a major regional sporting event. It also aims to promote cultural exchanges and friendship ties between young people of member islands/countries of the Indian Ocean.
