Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambican citizens will soon be getting a Single Civil Identification Number, which will integrate the current Civil Registration, Tax Identification, NUIT and Social Security numbers.

This innovation is part of the law establishing the legal regime for civil identification and identity cards definitively approved by parliament this Thursday.

The instrument will also see official identity cards equipped with an integrated circuit for data storage, an optical reading area, a photograph and all the identifying elements of the holder.

The vice-president of the Defence, Security and Public Order Commission in the Assembly of the Republic, Deolinda Chochoma, explained that it now becomes mandatory for all Mozambican citizens aged six and up to provide the data required for the attribution of civil identity.
