Africa-Press – Mozambique. Quelimane municipality has US$150,000 available to fund youth projects responding to the effects of climate change. The money was made available by Bloomberg Philanthropy, a US agency that cooperates with the Quelimane municipality.
The US$150,000 has already been distributed to associations, with the implementation phase ongoing.
At least 26 associations are working to replace manga trees, paint educational murals, provide environmental education and install solar-powered lights in neighbourhoods.
The first phase of this project, with a budget of US$50,000, took place in 2024, with this second phase now underway.
There are already educational murals in Quelimane funded by these investments, such as the one on the waterfront avenue.
