NEPC receives clean 2024 audit

Africa-Press – Namibia. Auditor-General Junias Kandjeke has given the New Era Publications Corporation (NEPC) an unqualified audit opinion for the year ended 31 March 2024.

For an audit opinion to be unqualified means it is a “clean opinion,” indicating the auditor-general found no significant issues with NEPC’s financial statements and believes they are presented fairly and accurately in accordance with all relevant accounting standards and principles. This latest unqualified audit, which has been tabled in the National Assembly for scrutiny, provides assurance to the government, as the main shareholder through the information and communication technology ministry, that NEPC’s financial information is reliable and trustworthy, making it easier to make informed decisions about the organisation’s financial health.

In his report, Kandjeke stated: “In my opinion, the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of New Era Publication Corporation as at 31 March 2024 and financial performance and cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.”

However, in the sub-section of the report titled “Other Matters”, Kandjeke addressed a number of issues relating to allowed discounts for advertisement sales, approved pricing tariffs, as well as NEPC’s formal annual plan.

Commenting on the report, NEPC Chief Executive Officer Christof Maletsky said: “We are pleased to have received an unqualified audit. It is a sign that we adhere to the government’s governance framework and guidelines. While we received an unqualified report and we will always strive towards that, we also want to improve the publication to better serve our mandate continuously.”
