Africa-Press – Namibia. The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) has announced the appointment of former Springbok and coach Pieter Rossouw as the national team’s attacking consultant.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the NRU said Rossouw had been appointed in preparation for Namibia’s upcoming World Cup final qualifier tournament scheduled to take place in Dubai from November 8 to 18.

“Rossouw, widely respected for his attacking vision and tactical expertise, brings with him extensive experience at the highest level of the game, having represented South Africa as a player and contributed significantly as a coach with top professional teams,” the NRU’s statement reads.

“His appointment forms part of the NRU’s strategic preparations to ensure the national team is fully equipped to compete at the highest standard as they pursue qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia,” the NRU added.

Rossouw will join the technical team immediately, headed by the Director of Rugby, Jacques Burger and his coaching staff to sharpen Namibia’s attacking structures and execution ahead of the tournament.

It will be the second time that Rossouw forms part of the Namibian coaching staff after he previously served as the backline coach under head coach Phil Davies at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Namibia will compete against three other teams at the final repechage qualifying tournament in Dubai for one place at the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

Namibia and Belgium have already qualified, while the other two places must still be decided via regional play-offs.

The United States, Chile and Samoa will compete for one spot in an inter-continental play-off later this month, while Brazil and Paraguay will compete for another spot in a South American play-off next month.
