Accident claims two lives at Walvis Bay

Africa-Press – Namibia. Two people died in a car accident on the B2 road between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund on Saturday at around 22h00. According to deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu from the Erongo police, a white vehicle with two occupants was travelling from Walvis Bay towards

Swakopmund, while a black sedan, with two occupants was travelling from Swakopmund. The driver of the black sedan allegedly lost control about 10 km before entering Walvis Bay, and ended up in the lane of oncoming traffic, resulting in a side collision with the white vehicle.

The driver of the black sedan, 41-year-old Haindongo Nghidimokanya and passenger Tomas Ashitana died in the accident. The 52-year-old driver of the white vehicle sustained injuries and is in a stable condition, while his 12-year-old son sustained serious injuries.

They are currently hospitalised at the Welwitschia Hospital at Walvis Bay. The next of kin of both deceased persons were informed. Police investigations continue.
