Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibia Football Association (NFA), in consultation with the Namibia Sport Commission (NSC), has withdrawn the Brave Warriors AFCON kit.
This follows public outcry that the new kit has SWAPO party colours.
In a press statement issued jointly by NSC and NFA on Wednesday, it was indicated that the NSC and its affiliates, the NFA, understand the public outcry and have, as a result, instructed the technical team to immediately withdraw the official online from being worn by the Brave Warriors.
“The NSC and NFA wish to assure the public that during the main fixtures of the 2023 TotalEnergies AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, the traditional national tracksuit and blazer will be worn as a form of unity under the brand promise,” read the statement.
The team also held a friendly match against Ghana, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
The 34th edition of the TotalEnergies AFCON is expected to kick off on the 13th of January 2023, where the continent’s biggest stars are expected to shine after an impressive showing for their respective clubs and the Qatar World Cup 2022.
