Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) has reached a significant milestone by vaccinating 10,000 dogs and cats against rabies in the Greater Waterberg Landscape through its mobile outreach programme.

Launched in 2019, the initiative provides life-saving rabies vaccines to underserved communities where access to veterinary services is limited and the risk of transmission between domestic animals, humans, and wildlife is high.

According to CCF, each vaccination not only protects individual animals but also contributes to the broader goal of preventing the spread of rabies, ultimately safeguarding human and wildlife populations. The programme forms part of the global “Zero by 30” initiative, which aims to eliminate human deaths from rabies by 2030, and directly supports Namibia’s national rabies strategy.

Reaching 10,000 vaccinations, CCF said, was made possible through the efforts of its mobile veterinary team, field staff, conservancy leaders, and donor support. Key partners include the Foundation for Human Rabies Education and Eradication (FHREE) and the Community Conservation Fund of Namibia.
