Africa-Press – Namibia. Hollard Namibia has entered into an official partnership with the Swakopmund municipality to sponsor the iconic ‘Promenade’, a palm-lined path along the beach between the Mole and the aquarium.
The insurance company has pledged to provide N$150 000 annually for the next three years towards the upkeep and enhancement of the beloved walkway. In return, they will be granted permission to subtly display their branding along the path.
Swakopmund mayor Blasius Goraseb emphasises that Hollard will not be placing overwhelming advertisements, but will make use of understated signage and integration into existing infrastructure.
“It is a corridor of culture, leisure and natural beauty and, therefore, the preservation thereof is of great significance to us all,” he says.
“This is branding done responsibly in the spirit of community upliftment and shared values. The benefits of the partnership are clear. It will preserve our town’s heritage, enhance the tourism experience, provide financial relief to council and reinforce Hollard’s commitment to corporate social responsibility,” he adds.
Hollard Namibia executive for corporate affairs Grace Mohamed has also expressed her belief in the significance of the promenade.
“The Promenade is a walkway where memories are created and it’s one we are all proud of,” she says.
She says the company is interested in potentially exploring additional partnerships with the Swakopmund municipality in the future.
“There are other opportunities that we think we can explore. But more than anything we are honoured. We don’t take it for granted because we know anybody could have been in this seat and we honour and respect it in the manner that we’ve been guided. We truly are available to the council when you need any assistance on the Promenade for us to talk through it and we hope that the yearly contribution will make a difference in the upkeep of that very iconic walkway,” Mohamed states.
