NABTA thanks and warns long-distance bus operators

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian Bus and Taxi Association (NABTA) have expressed their appreciation for how long-distance bus operators have conducted themselves so far during this festive season.

“They heeded our call and implemented our recommendations,” said NABTA secretary-general Pendapala Nakathingo.

According to him, NABTA recommended that, besides ensuring that their vehicles are roadworthy, bus operators employ a number of drivers who work in shifts to avoid a situation where tired and sleepy drivers continue driving, endangering their passengers and other road users.

“We thank them for their excellent conduct so far, but we also warn them against overspeeding, overloading, and overcharging passengers as they rush back to their respective places of work and residence,” said Nakathingo.

He also urged travelers, especially school kids, to avoid traveling at the last minute, a habit that annually leaves many people stranded due to a lack of transport.
