Nandi-Ndaitwah Appoints Task Forces for Economic Challenges

Africa-Press – Namibia. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced plans to appoint three task forces in the coming weeks to address key economic challenges facing the country.

Speaking at the Helao Nafidi Business Expo in the Ohangwena region on Saturday, Nandi-Ndaitwah said the task forces will focus on economic recovery, health and housing — initiatives inspired by the recent Namibia Public-Private Forum (NPPF).

“In the course of the coming week, I will appoint the three task forces — economic recovery, health and housing — as agreed at the forum,” she said.

The president stressed the importance of creating a more conducive environment for private sector participation in national development, noting that both government and business have complementary roles to play.

“The government has to make certain adjustments to create an enabling environment for the private sector, while the private sector must align its efforts with the government’s priority areas for social and economic development,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said it is her hope that next year’s NPPF will be even better organised and yield stronger results.

“One of the outcomes of the forum is the agreement between the government and the private sector to work together for the good of our people,” she added.

She said the NPPF will now be held annually to provide a formal platform for collaboration between the government and private sector, allowing both sides to better understand their responsibilities in nation-building, economic advancement and inclusive growth.

“This collaboration is key to creating jobs, reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity,” she said.
