Africa-Press – Namibia. THE National Road Safety Council, in collaboration with the Namibian Police Force (Nampol) and the Roads Authority, has launched a road safety campaign in the Zambezi Region, targeting Katima Mulilo and the Kongola Constituency.

The initiative comes in response to mounting safety concerns along the B8 highway, one of the country’s busiest routes. In Kongola alone, 78 accidents and 24 fatalities have been recorded over the past 14 months, underscoring the urgent need for preventative action.

The campaign focused on raising awareness by educating residents about road signs, the dangers of speeding and drunk driving, as well as safe walking practices. It also included scholar patrol activations, assessments of schools for patrol services, and other key measures aimed at protecting learners.
