Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of 10 suspects linked to organ harvesting and armed robbery across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, where he pointed out recent breakthroughs in ongoing security operations.
According to him, one suspect was arrested for organ harvesting, while nine others were apprehended for armed robbery and culpable homicide.
The police boss revealed that on November 17, police operatives responded to a distress call from Yahaya Sabo Motor Park in Lafia, where a man was arrested by park officials for alleged involvement in organ trafficking.
Upon arrival, officers rescued four victims and took the suspect into custody.
Preliminary investigations identified the suspect as 40-year-old Maro Ebojoh, who allegedly travelled from Delta State to Lafia on November 14 to recruit people for an illegal kidney transplant.
“The suspect lured the victims with a promise of ₦2,000,000 payment upon completion of the procedure.
“One victim who passed the medical screening was moved to Abuja for the transplant, but the procedure was halted due to blood pressure concerns.
“Our operatives swiftly moved to Abuja and rescued the victim unhurt.” Mohammed said:
The victims were listed as: Umar Ahmadu Barau, 25, Suleiman Alhaji-Garba, 20, Williams Dadung, 32, Stanley Ezekiel, 27.
The suspect reportedly confessed to receiving ₦500,000 as advance payment from a client, while donors were expected to receive ₦2 million each. He also admitted to facilitating a similar transaction two months earlier.
The commissioner added that in a separate operation on November 4, officers from Mararaba ‘A’ Division raided a criminal hideout on Musbawu Street, Mararaba, resulting in the arrest of nine suspected gang members.
The suspects, aged between 18 and 29, were allegedly behind multiple nighttime robberies in Mararaba and neighbouring communities.
They were accused of attacking residents, stealing phones, and transferring funds from victims’ bank accounts before reselling the stolen devices.
“The suspects confessed to several robbery operations, including a deadly attack on May 20, 2025, at Uke, where they killed the son of a serving police officer.” CP Mohammed added.
The case, he said, is currently being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and the suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Police Commissioner advised residents to remain alert, especially regarding those posing as legitimate organ donor agents.
He urged the public to support the command by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
