Africa-Press – Nigeria. A Nigerian digital firm unveiled Marketplace Naija, a safer online structured trading platform in the country’s financial ecosystem.
In a statement by the firm’s spokesperson, Ifejika Somtochukwu, on Tuesday, said the platform would provide Nigerians a secured alternative trading experience.
The platform was launched with the goal of offering a safer, more organised way for citizens to buy and sell goods and services online.
The platform—accessible via https://www.marketplace.ng—connects buyers and sellers nationwide while tackling long-standing issues such as verifying sellers, dealing with inconsistent communication, and navigating unregulated online marketplaces.
“Marketplace Naija is designed to simplify and secure everyday trading for Nigerians,” the statement noted. “People shouldn’t have to struggle to find a buyer, verify a seller, or understand what they’re paying for. The platform serves as a digital extension of our traditional markets, but with enhanced transparency.”
The platform allows users to list items, property, vehicles, and services, offering verification tools and reporting features to flag suspicious listings. It also incorporates community feedback to support small traders, artisans, students, and business owners in expanding their reach beyond local markets.
He said it is developing additional features to improve listing filters, enable secure communication, and boost user confidence during transactions. The company is also exploring partnerships with organisations promoting digital literacy and small business development.
Somtochukwu added that the platform’s growing user base—fuelled largely by returning visitors and word-of-mouth referrals—highlights rising demand for structured, locally designed solutions in Nigeria’s expanding digital commerce landscape.
The launch aligns with broader national trends, as more Nigerians embrace digital platforms for everyday transactions and seek safer, more dependable online marketplaces.
