Africa-Press – Nigeria. Nigeria’s value-added tax (VAT) revenue collections rose to N2.06 trillion in the second quarter of 2025, according to a new report released on Tuesday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The latest VAT report shows that revenue grew by 32.15 percent year-on-year, up from the N1.56 trillion recorded in Q2 2024.

However, compared to the first quarter of 2025, VAT collections dipped slightly by 0.03 percent, down from the N2.06 trillion posted in Q1.

A sectoral breakdown indicates that local VAT payments contributed N1.09 trillion, foreign VAT payments accounted for N459.95 billion, while import VAT totaled N508.55 billion during the period under review.

Real estate activities recorded the highest growth rate quarter-on-quarter at 155.21 percent, followed by agriculture, forestry and fishing at 23.64 percent, and information and communication at 17.75 percent.

Conversely, human health and social work activities saw the sharpest decline at –68.34 percent. Electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply fell by 45.20 percent, while water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities dropped by –29.36 percent, the NBS report noted.
