Africa-Press – Rwanda. Patriots guard Franklin Damaria etched his name into Rwanda Basketball League history with a 66-point performance—the highest ever in a single game—leading his side to a 103–78 victory over EAUR BBC on Sunday, April 5, at Petit Stade.
The American guard was virtually unstoppable, logging 38 minutes in Sunday’s win.
Trusted by head coach Sunny Niyomugabo, the 26-year-old repaid that confidence in spectacular fashion, breaking the long-standing scoring record previously held by Pascal Niyonkuru since 2019, when he dropped 60 points for APR against Rusizi BBC.
Beyond the record, Damaria’s efficiency was equally outstanding. He shot 24-of-42 from the field, including seven three-pointers, and converted 11 of his 14 free throws. He also contributed six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Damaria is enjoying an exceptional debut season with the Patriots. He currently leads the league in scoring, three-pointers, and efficiency, averaging 28.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
The game also marked his third consecutive 30-plus point performance and his fifth outing with at least 25 points this season, reinforcing his status as one of the league’s standout players.
