Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, on Friday, August 15, met with Australia’s Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Matt Thistlethwaite, and discussed areas of mutual interest between the two countries.
Nduhungirehe is in Australia on a working visit targeting a series of diplomatic meetings. The visit began on Thursday, August 14. It will see the minister interact with various Australian officials in addition to participating in the Australian Leadership Retreat.
His meeting with Thistlethwaite focused on strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries, according to a statement shared by the foreign affairs ministry on X.
Rwanda and Australia established the Australia–Rwanda Trade and Investment Council (ARTIC) in 2023, during the Australian Leadership Retreat in Brisbane.
ARTIC seeks to deepen ties between Australia and Rwanda by fostering mutually beneficial partnerships in business, education, and culture.
Rwanda offers a seven-year tax holiday and a 50 percent tax deduction to investors in priority sectors such as technology, infrastructure (including energy and water), tourism, mining, housing, and manufacturing, according to the Rwanda Development Board’s investment incentives.
Rwanda was ranked Africa’s top performer for its conducive business environment, according to the 2024 B-Ready report.
