Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rotary Club of Kigali Cosmopolitan installed Srinivas Cheruvu was appointed as its new president for the 2025–2026 term on June 15.

The Rotarian Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow succeeded Srinath Vardhieni as the club’s second president. The installation ceremony brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, officials, friends, family, and board members from other Rotary clubs in Kigali. During the event, sponsors and new members were also formally recognized.

Cheruvu is currently the managing director of CFAO Motors Rwanda, with more than 20 years of experience. In his acceptance speech, he acknowledged how the club had grown under the previous leader, strengthening service initiatives and expanding community reach.

“Before I speak of the journey ahead, I must take a moment to recognize and honor the incredible leadership that has guided this club to where it stands today,” Chevudu said. “We stand at an important moment, not just as individuals, but as a collective force for good.”

Setting a tone for the year 2025–2026, Cheruvu laid out a roadmap for the club’s contributions and priorities. He emphasized continued commitment to the Rotary Foundation, promoting peace, fighting diseases, supporting education, protecting the environment, and announced a specific project aimed at making a tangible community impact.

“Each contribution becomes a gift that multiplies, investing in humanity, empowering communities, and transforming lives. As for our major upcoming initiative, we are supporting a school for blind and deaf children through the provision of learning materials, training and equipment. We also want to provide essential medical equipment to underserved health facilities,” he stated.

He also called on members to commit to a year of actions, collaboration, and shared responsibility.

The outgoing president, Srinath Vardhieni, reflected on a year of growth and service. During his tenure, the club achieved notable milestones, including strengthening its membership base and building international partnerships aimed at expanding its reach in Rwanda.

“Just about a year back, I took on the role of president of the club. True to its name as a cosmopolitan club, we’ve nurtured a community of diverse professionals from doctors and auditors to entrepreneurs and executives united by Rotary’s ‘Service above Self’ motto. We have also initiated strong partnerships with international clubs to launch impactful projects in the coming years, enhancing our service to local communities,” he said.

Vardhieni emphasized that these accomplishments were possible only due to the dedication and teamwork of the board and club members. He offered his full support to Cheruvu.

“I wish Srinivas all the very best in his new role as club president,” he said. “I am confident he will nurture and grow our club and take it to new heights. I am committed to supporting the new team.”

The Rotary Club of Kigali Cosmopolitan is organised under Rotary International, a service organisation with a network of 34,000 clubs and over 1.4 million volunteer Rotarians worldwide.

Established in March 2024, club aims to bring together Rotarians from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds with various qualifications to help Rwandan communities through humanitarian service projects.
