Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and APR basketball clubs won their respective games against Tigers and United Generational Basketball (UGB) at Petit Stade indoor gymnasium on Sunday, February 9, to maintain their unbeaten run in the Rwanda Basketball League.
REG registered their fourth straight win of the season with a dominant 85-61 win over Tigers to stay in second place with 8 points, two points behind APR who kept their top spot on the standings after snatching an 86-61 victory against UGB.
Henry Mwinuka’s Tigers started brightly and won the first quarter 18-15 before REG responded quickly to take the second quarter 19-10 to lead the game 35-28 going into half-time.
Odaudu Ogoh’s men, led by new signing Jean-Jacques Boissy, kept the momentum as they returned for the second half well organized, claiming the third 34-12 to extend their lead to 29 points. Tigers managed to win the last quarter 21-17 but it was not enough to win them the game.
Boissy scored a game high 14 points and added 12 rebounds and 8 assists, while Cleveland Thomas Jr and Patrick Nshizirungu contributed 14 and 11 points respectively.
In another game, Kepler beat Espoir 84-77 respectively, on the same day, as Patriots beat Orion 71-60.
