Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR star power forward Axel Mpoyo is confident he will overcome his knee injury in time for the upcoming fourth season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Mpoyo, a pivotal player for APR’s trophy-winning exploits during the 2023 Rwanda Basketball League season, confirmed to Times Sport that he is nursing a meniscus injury, but he assured that he “will be fit for the BAL.”

A mild meniscus injury can get better about four to twelve weeks.

The BAL regular season is slated for March 2024 and runs through June.

The regular season will be played from three conferences namely Nile in Cairo, Sahara in Dakar and Kalahari in Johannesburg before the finals come to Kigali in end May-early June.

Since 2021, Mpoyo, 26, has been a prominent figure in Rwandan basketball, showcasing his skills with top clubs like APR and Rwanda Energy Group (REG).

In the 2021/2022 season, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) after inspiring REG to the championship.
