Manzi Scores as Al Ahli Tripoli Wins League Title

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwandan defender Thierry Manzi was on the scoresheet as his side Al Ahli Tripoli clinched 2024/25 Libya Premier League title after beating Al-Hilal Benghazi 2-0 in the decisive playoff final match held at Città di Meda Stadium in Italy on Tuesday, August 12.

Al Ahli Tripoli needed just a draw to win the league prior to their crunch clash against Benghazi who were also supposed to win the match to be crowned champions.

Manzi opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Hamdou Elhouni doubled the lead in the second half to seal the victory as Ahli Tripoli were crowned champions.

The former APR center back and countryman Djihad Bizimana established themselves as key pillars in the backline and midfield respectively as the club finished the playoffs with an unbeaten run.

This marked 14th league title for Al Ahli Tripoli who will now compete in the CAF Champions League where they will face Dadjè FC of Benin in the first qualifying round, while runners-up Al Ahly Benghazi will represent Libya in the CAF Confederation Cup.
