Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) has announced the calendar for the 2025 Genocide Memorial Tournaments (GMT) which will run from April 19 to June 29.
The tournaments are organised annually across all sports federations on the occasion of honoring sports personalities killed during the Genocide against the Tutsi.
Beyond the tournaments, federations also visit Genocide memorial sites across the country as part of the commemoration.
For instance, this year, local football governing body (FERWAFA) will visit Murambi Genocide Memorial Site in Nyamagabe district. Olympians Association will visit Ntarama Genocide Memorial site, AJSPOR will visit Nyanza Genocide Memorial while ANP/SPORT Féminin will visit Muhanga Genocide Memorial Site.
To ensure inclusiveness, the GMT will also feature athletes with disabilities in various disciplines such as sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and goalball which will all take place from May 5-24 at NPC gymnasium in Remera.

Aquatics: April 19 at Green Hills Academy
Basketball: April 23-27 at Petit Stade indoor gymnasium.
Athletics: April 26 at Amahoro Stadium
Cycling: April 27 in Kigali
Motorsport: May 3 in Rwamagana
Golf: May 15 at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas
Table Tennis: May 15 at NPC Gymnasium
June 1-28: Martial arts competitions, encompassing Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, and Kung Fu Wushu.
May 18-June 28: Volleyball, cricket, skating, rugby, badminton and netball.
