Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda women’s national U20 team will face Zimbabwe in the first round of the U20 Women’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The first leg will be played on May 11 before the teams face off again in the return leg on May 14.
Players born on or after January 1, 2006 are eligible to feature in both the qualification phase and the tournament.
After four qualifying rounds, four teams which emerge victorious will represent Africa in the 12th edition of the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland from September 5 to September 27, 2026.
Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco and Nigeria represented Africa in the last edition in Colombia in 2024, with the Nigerian Falconets and the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon making it to the round of 16.
The tournament will feature 24 nations, including four representatives from Africa. A total of 38 African teams are vying for the four coveted slots, with the qualifiers set to unfold over four knockout rounds of home-and-away fixtures.
