Africa-Press – Seychelles. The late Matthew Perry of the hit sitcom Friends reportedly refused to let his character Chandler cheat on Monica, played by Courteney Cox.
Perry asked the show’s writers to scrap the storyline because he felt that fans would never forgive Chandler. This was shared by an actor on Friends, Lisa Cash, who appeared in season 5 as a flight attendant.
Cash told TMZ that her role originated as a hotel worker who Chandler cheats with after an argument with Monica.
In the scrapped storyline, Chandler gets upset after Monica has lunch with her ex, Richard, played by Tom Selleck.
“The scene was Chandler and Monica arguing in Vegas about having lunch with Richard,” Cash shared.
“Initially in our script, Chandler goes up to the hotel room, orders room service, and I bring it up [for him] as a hotel worker. We end up talking and laughing and connecting, and Chandler ends up cheating on Monica with my character,” Cash continued.
They had rehearsed the scene and prepared it, according to Cash.
The actor shared Perry’s reaction to the scene:
Despite the storyline being cut, Cash said her experience on the show was pleasant and that she enjoyed working with Perry.
“He was so likeable and welcoming and just made me feel at ease,” Cash said.
“I had so much fun. It was so much fun doing the scene with him, and it was easy.”
Perry died on 28 October at his Los Angeles home at age 54. He was found unresponsive in his jacuzzi. The cause of his death has yet to be confirmed.
