Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, a flagbearer aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC), has questioned President Julius Maada Bio’s claim that he has fulfilled all the promises in his manifesto.
Speaking during an online TV discussion, Aki-Sawyerr recalled a speech President Bio gave during the opening of Parliament, where he said he had completed all his promises and was now offering “bonuses.”
Aki-Sawyerr said such a statement is troubling, especially since, in her words, “We all have the manifesto and all the promises. We all know.” She noted that one of the promises was to transfer key policies and responsibilities to local councils, which she said has not happened.
“There’s no way President Bio has fulfilled 50% of his promises,” she said. “But for him to now tell the country that he has done them all and is only giving bonuses it sadly shows what looks like a real lack of sincerity.”
Aki-Sawyerr made these comments while speaking about her plans and her path toward becoming the next APC flagbearer.
