Sierra Leone Hosts First Investment Seminar in Türkiye

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. On Friday, May 30, 2025, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Her Excellency Francess Virginia Anderson, PhD, hosted the First Sierra Leone-Türkiye Investment and Trade Seminar, emphasizing the country’s numerous business opportunities for genuine investors.

The event gathered a high-powered delegation from Sierra Leone, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Minister of Tourism and Culture, and the Executive Director of the National Investment Board. Turkish representation included the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Trade, representatives from the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye, and various business leaders.

In her welcome address, Ambassador Anderson highlighted Sierra Leone’s emergence as an attractive investment destination, showcasing the presence of international companies and numerous small and medium-sized enterprises. She noted the “Big Five Game Changers” of the New Direction Government Agricultural Transformation (Feed Salone), Free Quality Education, Youth Employment Scheme, Infrastructure Development, and Revamping the Public Service Architecture as pivotal to the country’s development agenda.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Musa Timothy Kabbah, expressed optimism about the partnership between Sierra Leone and Türkiye. He stated that trade and investment should focus on shared benefits and sustainable impacts, emphasizing that Sierra Leone is open for business with reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, fighting corruption, and protecting investors’ rights.

Kabbah urged Turkish businesses to engage in Sierra Leone, inviting them to be part of the country’s transformation story and witness the potential of its dynamic youth. The seminar served as a platform to explore the untapped investment potential in one of Africa’s most promising destinations.
