Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Madam Salima Monorma Bah, joined the Chief Executive Officer of Orange SL, Sekou Amadou Bah, and the Director General of the National Communications Authority (NaTCA), Amara Brewah, to inspect the ongoing construction of Orange Sierra Leone’s new Data Center in Bo City.

The Bo Data Center is being built as a full-scale replica of Orange SL’s existing facility in Freetown. It will serve as a disaster recovery site to support digital services in case of emergency outages or natural disasters. The new center is expected to help improve service stability and manage network traffic across the country.

The project is part of efforts to extend digital infrastructure to the Southern and Eastern regions, including Bo, Kenema, Kono, and Makeni. It is also aimed at improving internet access and connectivity in areas that have had limited coverage.

With an investment of over €23 million, the Bo Data Center is one of Orange SL’s major infrastructure projects outside the capital. It is being developed through a partnership between the government and the private sector.

Construction work is ongoing, and the facility is expected to be completed in the coming months.
