Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone’s veteran and MLS legendary striker, Kei Kamara has officially announced his retirement from the Sierra Leone male national team (Leone Stars) when they play Djibouti in the FIFA African World Cup Qualifiers in Morocco.
The 41-year-old striker said the match on Sunday will be his final match for the Leone Stars
According to Kei Kamara, in his post, he writes, “LAST LAST, I promise this time.”
Kei Kamara further reflected on his journey. He said, Back in June 2008, he committed to serve his nation, and that that was a turning out in his life -a decision he said he will “never regret”.
“If you know me, then you know I gave it my all and sacrificed a lot. I felt the emotions from every Sierra Leonean around the world, and used them as my motivation every day, so I say thank you for the energy.” He stated.
He also noted that, “Yes, tomorrow’s game (vs Djibouti – Oct 12, 2025) will be my last and final game as a footballer of our darling Leone Stars. It was a great joy and honor to wear the Green White and Blue. I love you, Mama Salone. Our time will come to be at the FIFA World Cup, but my time has finally come to say goodbye to the national team.”
The veteran striker represented Leone Stars 43 times netting 8 goals. He will be remembered for scoring the lone goal that sent Sierra Leone to the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
