Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Police have launched a formal investigation following the theft of a CCTV camera in Makeni. This move underscores growing concerns about the security of public surveillance infrastructure.
Director of Operations, Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr. John Martin Senesie confirmed the incident, assuring the public that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.
He disclosed that the regional Commander has been directed to lead a comprehensive inquiry. At the same time, the head of the ICT department in Freetown has been tasked with auditing control room operations to detect any irregularities and gather intelligence that could aid the investigation.
“The matter did not happen by magic,” Dr. Senesie remarked pointedly, signalling the police’s resolve to uncover the truth and hold those responsible to account.
The police have promised regular updates to the public as the investigation unfolds, and that anyone found culpable will face appropriate legal consequences.
