Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The State House Director of Communications, Michael Berewa (“Myk Berewa”), has provided a definitive clarification on the true intent of EBEHMA, an emerging political slogan linked to First Lady Fatima Bio, stating it is an ideology aimed at preventing the All People’s Congress (APC) from winning the 2028 presidential election.
Berewa described the concept as the “EBEHMA GBI mentality,” an overarching mindset designed to shape political consciousness and maintain unity among its supporters.
The “Ebema faction” gained prominence earlier in 2025 during internal Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) elections, where it was perceived to be in strong opposition to the “Radical Inclusion Movement” (RIM) led by Chief Minister Dr. David Sengeh, who is widely considered a potential successor to President Julius Maada Bio.
Campaign flyers promoting First Lady Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, inscribed with slogans like “Ebema” and “After Bio Na Bio,” circulated widely on social media in June, igniting public speculation about her political ambitions.
However, Berewa stated that the core focus of the EBEHMA ideology is not internal SLPP politics, but a singular goal: to prevent the APC from reclaiming the presidency in 2028.
“I told you EBEHMA isn’t a movement! It’s an ideology designed to prevent the APC from taking over the state house in 2028. The EBEHMA GBI…mentality is a mindset focused on SOLEY preventing APC to power. It is possible!” Berewa wrote.
Berewa further explained that the EBEHMA ideology seeks to consolidate loyalists around a shared vision of continuity and progress under the leadership of the First Lady, whom he called the central figure and driving force of the initiative.
He emphasized that the ideology is built on the work and legacy of President Julius Maada Bio, with the goal of securing a “promising and sustainable future for Sierra Leone.”
