Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The National Sports Authority (NSA) Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, presided over the official draw ceremony for the maiden Inter-Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDA) Football Tournament on September 3rd, 2025.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Abdulai commended the participating institutions for their enthusiasm and commitment, noting that the tournament goes beyond football.
“The Inter-MDA Football Tournament is not just about sports,” he said. “It’s about building relationships, promoting health, and creating a platform for government workers to engage positively beyond the confines of their offices.”
He further reassured teams of NSA’s commitment, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, to ensure a professionally managed, inclusive, and entertaining competition.
Group Stage Draws, Group A: Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), Sierra Leone Immigration, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), and National Revenue Authority (NRA).
While Group B: Office of the Vice President, Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Sierra Leone Maritime Administration, and Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL).
Group C: State House, Bank of Sierra Leone, Ministry of Finance, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), and Group D teams will be: Ministry of Sports / National Sports Authority (NSA), National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Ministry of Fisheries, Audit Service Sierra Leone, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
Furthermore, under the tournament format, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, paving the way for an exciting series of knockout matches.
The event, held at the NSA Headquarters on Signal Hill Road, marked a historic step in fostering camaraderie and promoting physical wellness among government institutions.
The ceremony brought together representatives from various MDAs, all eager to discover their group-stage opponents ahead of the much-anticipated kickoff later this September.
