Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has congratulated Babadi Kamara on his election as the new president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

Kamara, who is also the executive chairman of Bo Ranger Football Club, won the position during elections held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at the Gateway Hotel in Lungi Town.

In a landslide victory, Kamara received 43 votes, while his competitors, Alhaji Umaru Bah and Ms. Aminata Bangura, garnered 1 and 11 votes, respectively. The election seen as a major shift in leadership for the SLFA, which plays a vital role in the development of football in Sierra Leone.

Following the announcement of the results, Chief Minister Sengeh expressed his pride in Kamara’s achievement. “To my friend, brother, and ally, Mr. Babadi Kamara, congratulations. As a Bo Rangers fan, I am proud of you. As a Bo Kakua born, we stand with you. As a government official, I’m excited about the future,” he stated.

Sengeh extended his congratulations to the entire football community, asserting the collective commitment to improving the sport in the country. “As a fan of the game, it’s always wonderful to see that everyone is committed to the improvement of the game,” he remarked.

Sengeh stressed on the importance of the leadership change for the future of football in Sierra Leone. “This marks a significant moment for football in our country, and I trust that under your leadership, SLFA will continue to grow and thrive, uniting our nation through sports and fostering talent at all levels,” he said.

He concluded with a call to action for Kamara, stating, “My task for you is simple, Sierra Leone should go to the World Cup!”
