Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Coordinating Committee visited the Tripartite Steering Committee Secretariat on September 3, 2025, to address ongoing concerns about the implementation of key recommendations and foster collaboration.
The main focus of the visit was to assess the current status of the Tripartite and Election Observation Mission (EOM) recommendations and to strengthen efforts toward their effective execution.
During the courtesy call at their Wesley Street office in Freetown, the CSO Coordinating Committee formally introduced itself to the Secretariat and discussed opportunities to support and enhance the process through strategic partnerships.
During the meeting, Mr. Ngolo Katta, the coordinator of the Tripartite Secretariat, provided an update on the implementation efforts. He informed the committee about the development of a recommendation tracker designed to monitor progress across all relevant institutions, including the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL), the Political Party Regulation Commission (PPRC), and the Office of National Security (ONS). Mr. Katta delivered a comprehensive overview of the advancements made thus far.

Currently, 39% of all recommendations have been completed, with drafts now under review by the Attorney General’s office. An additional 45% of recommendations are in progress, while 16% have yet to commence, pending a series of consultations and legal advice.
The Secretariat has also outlined plans to engage citizens across the 16 districts to keep them inform about the implementation status. They reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating closely with civil society, emphasizing that such partnerships are essential for advancing meaningful electoral reforms and strengthening democratic governance.
In conclusion, the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Coordinating Committee expressed gratitude to the Secretariat and reiterated their commitment to monitoring and following up on implementation progress. They noted that meetings have been scheduled with other institutions to facilitate this process.
