Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The National Grand Coalition (NGC) is facing intensified scrutiny as Acting Deputy Chairman and Leader, Alhaji Kamara, publicly challenged the suspension of the party’s Chairman, Jesmed Foday Mami Suma.

Kamara described the move as unjust and raised concerns about the process used by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to implement the suspension.

Speaking on the ongoing internal conflict, Kamara argued that the NEC’s decision was taken through the wrong channels, calling into question the legitimacy of the suspension. “The party has always valued transparency and proper procedure, yet this suspension bypassed established protocols,” Kamara stated, urging the party to revisit the matter to restore unity and trust among its membership.

In addition to disputing the NEC’s action, Kamara criticized the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) for its delayed involvement in resolving the conflict. He suggested that the Commission has inadvertently favored one faction, which he said could further deepen divisions within the party.

Kamara reassured NGC members and supporters that despite the internal turbulence, the party remains committed to preparing for the 2028 elections.

He also outlined plans to engage with party members nationwide to foster cohesion and ensure that the NGC presents a united front in future political contests.

The leadership rift comes as Jesmed Suma contests his suspension in court, creating a complex legal and political challenge for the NGC.

Observers note that the party’s ability to navigate this dispute could significantly influence its credibility and performance in upcoming elections.
