Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone has achieved a remarkable milestone in its Hajj preparations, securing a quota of 3,500 pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj season.

The achievement follows high praise from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which commended Sierra Leone for fully meeting the 2026 Hajj benchmarks.

During an official engagement, Dr. Badr Muhammad Al Solami, Adviser to the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, publicly commended Sierra Leone’s outstanding performance.

He noted that the country had demonstrated exemplary compliance and readiness, drawing applause from participants representing other nations and signalling international recognition of Sierra Leone’s credibility in Hajj management.

Dr. Al Solami further praised the leadership and dedication of Alhaji Murtada Sesay, Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Hajj, his team, and Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mohammed Barrie, describing their efforts as “great efforts in putting Sierra Leone at the top.” He encouraged other countries to emulate Sierra Leone’s model of organization, accountability, and efficiency.

The allocation of 3,500 slots marks a significant improvement in Sierra Leone’s Hajj administration and reflects the government’s strong commitment to facilitating a better pilgrimage experience for its citizens.

Officials from the Presidential Taskforce on Hajj described the recognition as a national achievement, underscoring President Julius Maada Bio’s continued support for transparency, discipline, and comfort for Sierra Leonean pilgrims embarking on the sacred journey to Mecca.
