Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has announced sweeping transfers of senior officers in a bid to restore public confidence and strengthen security following a series of violent armed robberies that have shaken the nation.

The decision, disclosed on Friday, September 5, 2025, comes in the aftermath of two high-profile incidents: the killing of a Catholic priest in Kenema and the shooting of a NASSIT manager in Bo, which left him critically injured. These attacks sparked outrage and heightened calls for decisive action from the country’s law enforcement leadership.

The announcement was made shortly after Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu visited Kenema and Bo, where the respective incidents took place.

Key Transfers Announced

AIG Brima Kanneh, formerly Regional Commander South, has been reassigned to Freetown East. He is succeeded by AIG Mustapha Kamara, previously Director of Training.

AIG Francis Moses Tower, the Eastern Regional Commander, now heads the Directorate of Professional Standards. AIG Francis Maindy, who served as Regional Commander Freetown East, takes over in the East.

LUC Fambule of Kenema has been moved to Port Loko, replaced by LUC Bob N. Mansaray from Kambia.

LUC Joseph Honor Kamara of Bo-West Division has been transferred to the Correctional Services. He is succeeded by LUC Kabia from Motema Division.

LUC Sia Sandi of Bo-East Division and LUC Foday Sesay of Moyamba Division have swapped posts.

LUC Sao Vandi of Port Loko has been moved to Kambia Division. Meanwhile, ACP Edison Vandi returns as LUC Lumley Division in Freetown.

According to the SLP, the reshuffle is part of broader efforts to reestablish law and order in regions that have recently come under scrutiny due to rising insecurity.

The police leadership has reiterated its call for community cooperation in combating crime, emphasizing that restoring peace and order requires collective effort.
