Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has officially dissolved its national executive team as of midnight on June 30, 2025, marking the end of the tenure for its current leaders, including National Chairman Dr. Prince Harding and National Secretary General Napoleon Koroma, and others.
The decision was made during a special meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) held on June 30, 2025. In a significant move, the NEC resolved that all national executive positions are now vacant, paving the way for new leadership within the party.
To oversee the upcoming election of new national executives, the SLPP has established the “Independent Election Management and Oversight Committee” (EMOC).
The committee has been tasked with managing all processes and procedures leading up to the elections, which are scheduled to take place later this month during a National Delegates Conference in Freetown. As of press time, the full list of EMOC members has not been disclosed.
Questions remain regarding the status of the SLPP’s National Leader and Deputy National Leader, currently held by President Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, respectively.
There is speculation that both will retain their positions until the SLPP selects its presidential candidate for the 2028 elections. The timeline for this candidate selection remains uncertain, but it is anticipated that the newly elected national executives will play a crucial role in organizing the flagbearer contest.
