Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Speaker of the Sixth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone, the Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, has officially announced the passing of Hon. Musa Peter Moigua, a former parliamentary representative from Kenema District in the Eastern Region.

Making the announcement during a parliamentary sitting, the Speaker expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the family, colleagues, and constituents of the late Hon. Moigua. His death marks a significant loss for both the Kenema District and the legislative arm of government.

In accordance with constitutional procedures under the Proportional Representation System, the Rt. Hon. Speaker has formally declared the Kenema parliamentary seat previously held by Hon. Moigua vacant. He has directed the Clerk of Parliament to immediately notify the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) to initiate the process for his replacement.

This move aligns with established legislative protocols, ensuring the continuity of representation for the people of Kenema District and the effective functioning of Parliament. Further arrangements are expected to be announced by the ECSL regarding the nomination of a replacement as stipulated by the electoral laws.
