Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Sierra Leone, Mr. Fredrick Ampiah, has hosted the Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, Hon. Amara Kallon, and his team to discuss ongoing efforts and future priorities in the country’s public sector reform agenda.

The engagement, held at the UNDP office in Freetown, focused on reviewing the achievements made under current reform initiatives, including the recently endorsed Public Service Reform Roadmap a landmark policy document approved by Cabinet aimed at modernizing Sierra Leone’s public sector.

In his remarks, Mr. Ampiah congratulated the Ministry for securing Cabinet’s endorsement of the roadmap, describing it as “a significant milestone toward building a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centered public service.” He emphasized UNDP’s continued support for the Government’s drive to enhance service delivery and governance systems. “UNDP remains fully committed to partnering with the Ministry and other stakeholders to ensure that public sector institutions are empowered to deliver effectively and equitably for all Sierra Leoneans,” said Mr. Ampiah.

Hon. Amara Kallon, for his part, expressed appreciation to UNDP for its longstanding partnership and technical assistance, which he said has been instrumental in the government’s reform journey. He highlighted the Ministry’s focus for 2026, which includes strengthening institutional accountability, improving human resource management, and fostering innovation across public institutions.

The meeting also explored new areas for collaboration and co-creation between UNDP and the Ministry, aligning with national development priorities and the government’s commitment to good governance and sustainable development.

The endorsement of the Public Service Reform Roadmap marks a crucial step toward transforming Sierra Leone’s public sector into one that is more responsive, professional, and accountable ultimately delivering better outcomes for citizens and supporting the nation’s long-term development goals.
