Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Youth Minister, Ibrahim Sannoh attended the launching of the Korea International Cooperation Agency’s (KOICA) digital empowerment programme for youth, Realising Empowerment Fund, and Accelerating Digital for Youth (Ready Salone) on May 23, 2025.
During the launch, the Youth Minister spoke on the Sierra Leone Government’s commitment to empowering youth through digital innovation as designed in the Ready Salone Youth Programme.
“We are no longer the future; we are the present,” the Minister said in his address to youth and beneficiaries at the launch. He added that the programme is an opportunity for young people to plan their future with little reliance on the past.
He stressed that young people must prioritise the digital landscape for education, entrepreneurship, and transformation. He referenced the power of social media as a tool to be used more for progress than just for likes and trends.
Sannoh affirmed that youth in the country should also make use of digital marketing which he said is an essential skill for economic independence especially in this contemporary world.
The KOICA Ready Salone Project is a digital empowerment initiative that offers training and economic opportunities for young people in Sierra Leone. The project aims to equip youth with digital skills to drive a thriving digital economy in the future.
