Africa-Press – South-Africa. Crime Intelligence’s General Dumisani Khumalo has been reinstated as the head of the embattled unit.
Senior police officials confirmed to EWN that Khumalo was reinstated on Thursday morning, after being temporarily removed from his post in late June following his arrest.
Khumalo was arrested alongside six other senior Crime Intelligence officers and charged with fraud and corruption related to the employment of 30-year-old Dineo Mokwele.
Mokwele was allegedly employed in a senior role despite having no policing experience and without being properly vetted.
It’s understood that while Khumalo has returned, he is still not allowed to enter the Crime Intelligence offices, as this forms part of his bail conditions in his ongoing case.
Police have been approached for comment.
