KZN Police Expose SAPS Employee's Record Alteration

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have revealed that an SAPS employee made changes to Stuart Sharnick’s criminal record in January this year.

Sharnick is also known to be a close associate of the suspended Crime Detection head, Shadrack Sibiya.

KZN police are currently briefing the media about Sharnick’s criminal record.

During the briefing, KZN Deputy Commissioner for Crime Detection, Anthony Gopaul, said: “When I ask, I am trying to ask myself what is factual about your reputation, how will the South African Police Service be back-footed on the information we know about you?”

Gopaul added that the police system was corrupted at the behest of Sharnick, detailing the exact time the changes were made.

“On the 16th of January at 16:58 in the afternoon on that day, a particular employee of the SAPS went into the criminal record system and made some adjustments to the benefit of Mr Stuart Sharnick.”

In another matter, Sharnick has accused the police of tarnishing his image and on Wednesday laid charges against Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo.

This action follows Khumalo listing Sharnick’s criminal record while giving evidence at the Madlanga Commission.
