Malusi Gigaba Charged With Corruption

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Former Minister of Public Enterprises Malusi Gigaba has been charged with corruption in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court.

Gigaba appeared alongside four other accused in the matter of a controversial Transnet locomotive deal worth billions of rands.

Former Transnet executives Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama, Anoj Singh and engineer Thamsanqa Jiyane joined Gigaba in the dock on Tuesday.

This comes after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) summoned Gigaba to the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) recently.

Prosecutor Santos Manillal explained the charges: “The accused is being charged with corruption, which is not a schedule five or six offence, it’s a schedule one offence and, therefore, the State has served him a J175 summons.”
