Matlala Discusses R360M Police Tender With KZN Cop

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala told Parliament’s ad hoc committee that he met KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to assist him with his R360 million police tender.

Matlala told the ad hoc committee that it was former Police Minister Bheki Cele who arranged the meeting for him and Mkhwanazi to discuss the tender.

He said they met in Umhlanga in April this year and the meeting with Mkhwanazi was to help Matlala on how the contract was being sabotaged.

Matlala was giving evidence before the parliamentary ad hoc committee investigating police corruption, which is sitting at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility, where Matlala is currently awaiting trial for attempted murder.

“When I met with General Mkhwanazi, he said to me ‘Yes, I hear about your problem that you’re having and they don’t give you guys enough work, they just seem to work in dribs and drabs so that they don’t breach their contract. If it was according to them, they wouldn’t send any purchase orders at all.'”
